Created in 1984 under the name Micrel, the company has developed as an engineering and design company with its first customers such as the local foundry SBFM (sound resonance control equipment that has become Expertest), Ifremer, Fichet Bauche (electronic locks) and nke (electronic systems for sailboats).

As early as 1988, Micrel develops, in addition to its engineering and design capacity, a policy for the sale of products for its own self on niche markets. These first markets are the Expertest control equipment and the data-loggers for oceanography.

In 2001, Micrel-nke is bought by Jean-Pierre Maquaire who develops its four offers on the French market: custom design studies, electronic systems for performance sailboats, electronic systems for oceanographic instrumentation and control electronics for electric heating.

At the end of 2004, Micrel-nke buys Headway Concept, a company which has launched two innovative products for performance sailing: Echospeed and Proteus.

In June 2005, since the name Micrel cannot be used for export, Micrel-nke becomes « nke »

On January 1st, 2007, Jean-Pierre Maquaire goes into retirement and Jean-Claude Le Bleis, current manager, took over the financial control of the company with the intention of significantly increasing the company's turnover over the next 5 years.

On January 1st, 2009, the company acquires the scientific instrumentation division for deep-sea oceanography from Kannad
